Toolbox Talk: Mandatory Use of Bodycams

Introduction

Following an incident last week, we’re taking steps to improve safety on-site. Over the next few weeks, all operatives will be issued with a bodycam as part of your PPE.

This isn’t just about ticking a box – it’s about keeping you safe and making sure we have clear records if something happens. In addition, more and more of our customers are insisting that bodycams are worn.

It will be down to you to ensure that your device is looked after and sufficiently charged for use (USB type C charging cable will be provided).

We’ve sourced a better quality bodycam than the ones we have previously used. They’re higher quality, easier to use, making recording clear footage while minimising any inconvenience during work achievable.

Features:

  • 1.5″ screen allowing you to review recordings and pictures
  • 4-5 hours recording time
  • loop recording (can set the video to be automatically overwritten in 5 or 10 min intervals)
  • Photo mode – capture images
  • Audio recording mode
  • LED lights
  • 180 degree rotation
  • USB Type C charging
  • Wifi controllable via App if desirable
  • Safety First – Bodycams act as a deterrent and provide solid evidence if incidents occur.
  • Customer Expectations – Many of our clients now expect bodycams to be used, so we’re making them part of our everyday operations.

Bodycams should be activated and recording at all times in the following situations:

  • When working on the Hampshire Network

  • When working on gates

  • When working on air locks

  • Make sure it’s fully charged before your shift.
  • Wear it securely to capture a clear view of your work.
  • Switch it on when working in required areas.
  • Don’t turn it off or interfere with it while working
  • Report any faults straight away so we can get it sorted.

The following is a review video of some of the features of the camera and how to use it:

If you would like to control the camera from your phone you can download the app for your device from the buttons below:

The implementation of bodycams is a proactive step to improve safety, accountability, and professionalism across our operations. Please familiarise yourself with the new equipment as it is rolled out and ensure compliance with its use in the specified areas.
